Regular exercise keeps you healthy

June 23rd, 2008

Many of us want to have a regular routine of exercise but fail to actually stick to our word. Most people realize that exercise plays a major part in our health, keeping us fit. It may seem hard to actually get to the task of exercising but in fact it is rather simple.

Firstly, you have to actually choose the sport you want to do or what you want to do to exercise. It does not need to be something you do not enjoy; actually, making it something you enjoy and like to do is a great positive. In what you choose, it is purely up to you based on your own likings. It really does not matter what you pick, it could be walking the dog, mountain climbing, hiking or even sky diving. All sports contribute to keeping fit and all are welcome based on what you think is best. Remember, you can do more than one sport; you can do whatever pleases you.

The next step is for you to set your targets and to create a routine. For example, a starter should set targets of around at least 1 hour of exercise per day. Then create your routine, try to make your targets challenging to go with your routine. It matters not when you chose to place the exercise, anywhere that suits you works fine. Whilst trying to challenge yourself is great, try to keep it within your boundaries and something that is achievable. Such as it is much more likely to do 2 hours of tennis than 17 hours of mountain climbing every day!

Now that your targets are set and your routine is made, it gets down to actually doing it. This can actually be the hardest part, however, remember your goals and motivate yourself. Think of what you are doing this for and the rewards it will bring, not to mention the self satisfaction. With a small bit of motivation, you will find yourself raring to go!

If everything goes to plan, you should find that after a while, your old targets look like a undermining of your ability. The next step to completion is to set you new targets, such as exercising for long periods of time.

Overall, actually getting into exercising can seem a daunting task at first, though when actually into it, you will forget what made you re think in the first place.
